The restoration of the century-old North Turnaround Signal Communication Building was part of the greater Portland mall project. Pacificmark carefully restored re-build many of the original details, and strengthened the brick exterior. During the work we discovered many railroad items of historic importance including old railroad spikes, glass panels, and even the original switching board station. These artifacts were donated to the Oregon Rail Heritage Center, where they have been restored and are now on display. The building, along with the adjacent Union Station, tell the story of Portland’s past, in the heart of Old Town. And true to its origins, it now serves the Signal Building for Light Rail in downtown Portland.
